Tips

  • For text-heavy pages, PNG keeps letters crisp; JPG at quality 90 is close and much smaller.
  • To post a document as one picture, use “Combine pages into one tall image” at 96–150 DPI.
  • Need the photos from a brochure? Use Extract images to get them at their original resolution.

Frequently asked questions

Which format should I choose?

JPG for scans and photos – small files that open everywhere. PNG for text, diagrams and screenshots – perfectly sharp and supports transparency. WebP gives JPG-like quality at a smaller size for websites.

What DPI do I need?

150 DPI is sharp on screens and fine for most uses. 300 DPI is print quality. 72–96 DPI gives small images for previews. An A4 page at 150 DPI is about 1240 × 1754 pixels; at 300 DPI it’s 2480 × 3508.

What’s the difference between converting and extracting images?

Converting turns each whole page – text, graphics and pictures – into one image. Extracting pulls out the original photos and graphics embedded in the PDF at their own resolution, without the surrounding page.

Can I make one long image from all pages?

Yes. Tick “Combine pages into one tall image”. It’s handy for sharing a multi-page document on chat apps or social media. Very long documents are scaled down to keep the image within browser limits.

Does it work with password-protected PDFs?

Yes. If the PDF needs a password to open, you’ll be asked for it. The password is used only in your browser to open the file.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Pages are rendered by Mozilla’s pdf.js engine in your browser, so documents stay on your device.

Why is the transparent background option missing for JPG?

JPG doesn’t support transparency. Choose PNG or WebP to keep a transparent background where the page has no white fill – useful for logos and diagrams.

Is there a page limit?

No fixed limit. Converting hundreds of pages at 300 DPI needs plenty of memory – on phones, convert in smaller batches or use a lower DPI.
