- 6–8 weeks before: set a budget, choose the venue and draft the guest list.
- 3–4 weeks before: send invitations and book any entertainment or catering.

How the countdown is calculated
The timer counts to midnight at the start of the birthday – or the time you set – using your device’s clock and time zone. If the birthday is today, it shows a celebration and starts counting to next year. For people born on 29 February, the countdown uses 28 February in common years.
Frequently asked questions
How many days until my birthday?
Enter your birthday’s day and month and the countdown shows the exact days, hours, minutes and seconds left, counted to midnight at the start of the day in your own time zone. You can change the time if you want to count down to a party.
Can I count down to my 18th, 21st or another milestone birthday?
Yes. Enter the year you were born, then choose the milestone under “Count down to”, or pick “Another age” and type any age. If that birthday has already passed, the tool tells you how long ago it was.
What happens with a 29 February birthday?
In leap years the countdown runs to 29 February. In other years it counts down to 28 February, which is when many people born on leap day celebrate. The calendar file repeats on the last day of February every year.
How do I add a birthday reminder to my calendar?
Press “Add to calendar” to download a small .ics file that repeats every year, then open it with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. The Google Calendar button opens a ready-made yearly event instead.
Where is my birthday list stored?
Only in this browser on this device. Nothing is sent to our servers. Clearing your browser data removes the list, so use “Add all to calendar” if you want a permanent copy.
Can I show the countdown on a TV or at a party?
Yes. Press Fullscreen, choose a theme and type a message such as the person’s name. The countdown fills the screen and keeps updating every second.
Does the countdown use my time zone?
Yes. It uses the clock and time zone of the device you’re using, so a shared link counts down to midnight wherever the person opening it is.
Is the birthday countdown free?
Yes, completely free with no sign-up. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers.
