Frequently asked questions
Are my notes private?
Yes. Everything you type stays in your browser – nothing is sent to a server. If you turn on “Save in this browser”, notes are stored on this device only, and turning it off deletes them from the browser.
Will my notes still be here tomorrow?
Only if “Save in this browser” is on. Saved notes stay until you remove them or clear your browser data. Private or incognito windows forget them when closed, so download anything important.
Can I keep more than one note?
Yes. Press New note to start another; the list shows each note by its first line, most recently edited first. Delete removes the current note.
How does find and replace work?
Type in Find to see how many matches there are, press Enter or ↓ to jump to the next one and Replace or Replace all to change them. Aa makes it case-sensitive, W matches whole words only and .* lets you use regular expressions, with $1 for groups in the replacement.
What do the text tools do?
They change case (UPPER, lower, Title, Sentence), sort lines, remove duplicate or empty lines, trim spaces, join lines, add numbers or bullets and replace curly quotes with straight ones. They work on the selection, or the whole note if nothing is selected, and Ctrl+Z undoes them.
What keyboard shortcuts are there?
Ctrl+S saves (or downloads when saving is off), Ctrl+F jumps to Find, F3 or Enter finds the next match, Shift+F3 the previous one, and Esc leaves focus mode. On a Mac use Cmd instead of Ctrl.
How is reading time calculated?
It assumes about 230 words a minute, a typical adult silent reading speed.
Can I use it offline?
Once the page has loaded it works without a connection – typing, saving in the browser and downloading all happen on your device.
